The Distillery Historic District offers a unique and beautiful setting for personal photography, commercial photography, and filming.
PHOTOGRAPHY PERMITS
PHOTOGRAPHY PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR:
- Any instance where a 3rd party photographer has been hired
- Any use of handheld equipment during the shoot
- Wedding Photography
- Engagement Photography
- Anniversary Photography
- Vow Renewal Photography
- Family Photography
- Wedding, engagement, anniversary, vow renewal or family photography shot by amateur photographer requires a permit
- Professional cameras with a detachable lens exceeding 3 inches in length require a permit for any intended use
Groups:
- Elementary and High School educators interested in a class photography trip to The Distillery Historic District must receive advance approval by site management. Please contact us.
- Photography groups may require a permit. Please contact us.

Permits are not required for:
- Casual snapshots taken by visitors as memories, souvenirs, or for personal use to share on social media may be taken at any time. We do not require permission or a permit for this intended use. We love seeing all the beautiful photographs shared by the community! Please tag us @DistilleryTO and #DistilleryTO and we may re-share your content!
- Weddings and events booked through Distillery Events
PRICING
Photography Permits are $500+HST for a 2-hour session.

*Please ensure you have reviewed our Guidelines, and Terms and Conditions before making your purchase. Permits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
NOTE: Photography Permits are not available for purchase from November 1st through December 31st, 2025. (Permit applications will open again on January 1st, 2026).
PHOTOGRAPHY PERMIT TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Drone operation in The Distillery Historic District is strictly prohibited
- This permit is for photography only and does not include videography
- This permit is not valid for any commercial photography/videography (please see the section below for more on Commercial Use)
- Permits are valid for up to two (2) consecutive hours
- Photo permits are non-refundable and non-transferable
- No stand-alone props (cutouts, decor, etc.) or equipment (audio/video, tripods, lights, body mounts, monopods, etc.) are permitted, we allow handheld props and equipment only
- Photo permits are valid only in the outdoor areas of The Distillery Historic District, and do not allow photography inside shops, restaurants, entryways, exits, other businesses, or on restaurant patios
- Photography must not block pedestrian flow around the site or into residences or businesses
- The Distillery Historic District is private property, and access can be revoked at any time. Please be aware that site management or site security may ask your party to relocate at any time
- Be mindful that The Distillery Historic District is a lively neighbourhood. Other activities may be taking place during your shoot. Please visit our Events Calendar prior to your visit
- You are required to display your physical photo permit during the session. Your email receipt will include additional details on these requirements

COMMERICIAL USE
Commercial and Professional Photography/Filming – Permit Required.
Portraiture, photos for professional use (i.e. commercial shoots, advertising, events, and the like), and any production videography for commercial purposes require a permit in advance. In some instances, a film license may be required.
